Early Morning Robbery Rocks Newtown — Police Make Quick Move
Police in St Kitts have launched an investigation into an armed robbery that took place in Newtown during the early hours of Saturday, November 1.
According to reports, Ronnie Barriteau of Bird Rock was walking near George and Douglas Streets between 5 and 6 a.m. when a masked man armed with a gun confronted him and demanded his belongings. Barriteau handed over his valuables, and the suspect fled the scene on foot.
Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Special Services Unit (SSU) quickly moved in, and one man has since been taken into custody to assist with the investigation.
The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is calling on anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area around that time to come forward. Residents can contact the Basseterre Police Station or reach out anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 707.
Investigations are ongoing as police work to determine whether the incident is connected to any other recent reports.
